Jell-O Celebrates 20th Anniversary of Jell-O® Jigglers®
Reminds Families of Many Fun Snack Time Uses for JELL-O
LEROY, NY — July 27, 2009 — This year, JELL-O is celebrating the 20th anniversary of JELL-O® JIGGLERS®, the beloved wiggly, jiggly gelatin shape snack recipe that brings fun and creativity to snack time. To celebrate, there is a special exhibit showcasing JIGGLERS at the JELL-O Museum in LeRoy, New York.
The JIGGLERS exhibit reminds visitors of the simple joy and fun JELL-O brings to families. It displays everything from the first JIGGLERS’ cutouts to vintage television spots from the famous Bill Cosby JELL-O JIGGLERS’ commercials.
Created by Kraft Foods, the JELL-O JIGGLERS recipe remains a snack time favorite today. The colorful, bite-sized cutouts are easy to make using a pan of any flavor of JELL-O gelatin and seasonal cutters or molds (or everyday household items like cookie cutters or cupcake tins).
With over 25 flavors of JELL-O gelatin, Kraft Foods has developed lots of new JELL-O snacking ideas like ”Jellin’-Melon” Snacks, a fun-to-make snack using JELL-O and a hollowed out melon. With so many options, the possibilities for creative snacking with the family are endless.
“For the past 20 years, JELL-O JIGGLERS have been one of the most fun ways to snack,” said Lynne Belluscio, Director, JELL-O Museum. “We are so happy to share in the fun by hosting this special exhibit and hope that it reminds people of all the happiness that JELL-O continues to bring to families.”
To join in the celebration, follow these creative snack time recipes for JIGGLERS and ”Jellin’-Melon” Snacks.

Healthy Living: Kids really go for this fun dessert. While they're cutting out their favorite shapes, you can prepare a fruit salad to offer each person as they enjoy their JELL-O® JIGGLERS® treat.
Creative Leftovers: The JELL-O® JIGGLERS® scraps remaining in the pan after the cutouts are done can be refrigerated in a tightly covered container and then tossed together with cut-up fruit for a colorful dessert the whole family will love.
Substitute: Substitute your favorite fruit juice for the water. Bring juice just to boil before stirring into the gelatin.
Make it Easy: Instead of cutting out with cookie cutters, cut the JELL-O® JIGGLERS® into 1-inch cubes.
Substitute: Prepare as directed, using 4 pkg. (4-serving size each) JELL-O Gelatin.
To Halve: Prepare as directed, using 8- or 9-inch square pan and cutting all ingredients in half. Makes 1 doz. or 12 servings, 1 JIGGLERS® each.
“Jellin’-Melon” Snacks
Prep Time: 15 min. plus refrigerating
Makes: 8 servings
What You Need!
1 cantaloupe, cut lengthwise in half
3/4 cup boiling water
1 pkg. (3 oz.) JELL-O Lime Flavor Gelatin
1/2 cup cold water
Make It!
REMOVE seeds from melon halves; cut thin slice from bottom of each half. Scoop out melon flesh, leaving 1-inch-thick shells. Place upside-down on paper towels to drain.
ADD boiling water to gelatin mix; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Stir in cold water. Refrigerate 15 min. or until slightly thickened. Pour into melon shells.
REFRIGERATE 3 hours or until gelatin is set. Cut into wedges.
Special Extra: Add 2 cups chopped fruit to thickened gelatin before pouring into melon halves. Since fresh or frozen pineapple, papaya, kiwi, figs, guava and gingerroot all contain enzymes that prevent gelatin from setting, never use them in gelatin recipes. But you can use any canned fruits or juices since the canning process kills this enzyme
Variation: Prepare using your favorite melon and JELL-O Gelatin flavor.
