BAREFOOT WINE AVPNEXT CHAMPIONSHIP CUP ANNOUNCES NATIONAL WINNERS
Four amateur volleyball players’ dreams come true and win a chance to compete against the pros at the AVP Crocs Tour San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (August 14, 2009) — The nationwide battle is over and Barefoot Wine proudly announces the winners of the Barefoot Wine AVPNext Championship Cup. Men’s champions Colin Kaslow and Tim Wooliver from Austin played a heated match, coming from behind and winning the three game series. Women’s champions Meghan House and Colleen Hunter from St. Louis showed off their professional skills on the court beating out top competitors from across the country. The two teams have earned the opportunity to play against the pros in the AVP Crocs Tour San Francisco Open Presented by Barefoot Wine, this weekend.
Throughout the summer, the Barefoot Wine AVPNext Championship Cup tournament challenged 64 talented beach volleyball players to prove their skills. The series drew hopefuls from grassroots amateur beach volleyball leagues in 16 cities, and regional winners played in the national tournament held on August 13, 2009. Both the men’s and women’s national tournament winners were awarded the ultimate prize of a main draw berth at the AVP Crocs Tour San Francisco Open.
“We’re in shock, and this win is phenomenal for us,” said Colleen Hunter. “We’ve shown St. Louis what we’re all about and now we can show the nation.”
Barefoot Wine has been a proud supporter of the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) for four seasons and applauds local athletes who strive to make it from community leagues to the volleyball pros.
