NEW YORK CITY CLOTHING BANK RECEIVES

$1,075 DONATION FROM COMMON CENTS

NEW YORK, June 18, 2009 - As part of its Penny Harvest initiative, Common Cents donated $1,075 - 107,500 pennies to be exact - to New York City Clothing Bank today in support of the Clothing Bank's ongoing efforts to provide new, never-worn apparel to New Yorkers in need.

These funds were donated by Penny Harvest collectors at two schools: PS 6 on Manhattan's Upper East Side contributed $675, and PS 111 in the Baychester community of Bronx contributed $400.

"On behalf of New York City Clothing Bank and its Board of Directors, I'd like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the children of PS 6 and PS 111 who collected these thousands of pennies and then donated 107,500 of them to our organization," said, Luis Jimenez, executive director of NYC Clothing Bank. "This generous donation will assist NYC Clothing Bank in providing a new beginning to homeless and other needy New Yorkers."

The Common Cents Penny Harvest is the largest child philanthropy program in the United States, encouraging children to collect pennies in service to their communities.
